Michael R. Reed is a partner of Zeiger, Tigges & Little LLP. His principal practice area is business litigation with an emphasis on Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) fiduciary class actions and ERISA benefits cases. Mr. Reed has represented national trucking firms, Ohio's largest health care insurer, a major religious organization, regional developers, financial institutions and banks, lawyers, school districts, doctors and other individuals in a wide variety of matters and disputes.
His recent experience includes litigation involving multi-employer withdrawal liability, collective bargaining, construction disputes, breach of contract, civil rights, elections and constitutional law, and professional discipline.

Representative Experience
- Obtaining a summary judgment on a 23-count complaint filed on behalf of a class of more than 5,000 ERISA pension plan participants and beneficiaries seeking in excess of US $250,000,000. The trial court’s decision was affirmed by the Sixth Circuit on appeal.
- Obtaining a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction enjoining a competitor’s use of customer lists and related trade secrets.
- Obtaining a defense jury verdict in a breach of contract/nuisance lawsuit seeking in excess of US $1.4 million and an award of damages on a related counterclaim.
- Obtaining dismissal of a putative class action complaint seeking recovery of pension benefits for participants who worked beyond normal retirement age. The trial court’s decision was affirmed by the Eleventh Circuit on appeal.
- Obtaining a summary judgment against a client’s insured on claims for breach of contract and bad faith denial of insurance coverage. The trial court’s decision was affirmed on appeal.
- Obtaining dismissal of a complaint seeking in excess of US $1.2 million filed on behalf of 35 ERISA plan participants and beneficiaries alleging wrongful denial of benefits.
